We source our mortise chisel & bits from the world renown company 'NH Japan'. The NH brand mortise (mortice) chisels are manufactured to exacting tolerances from high qulaity Japanese steel. They are precision ground and then hand finished. We have tested them and found the comparative performance to be outstanding. The comparison test used them in identical conditions against Clico mortise chisels in a special automatic test rig to produce 600 1/2" mortises in Douglas Fir
The NH chisels gave consistently light, precise, clean cutting performance. Clico mortise chisels were found to take more force both going into and out of the wood piece, creating rougher cutting surface and the finish deteriorated more quickly.
