  1. Glue & initiator for Wadkin Bandsaw Tyres
Set of 50ml permabond adhesive complete with initiator for fixing bandsaw tyres (recommended one set per wheel) Instructions: The rim of the Bandsaw Wheel being treated should be cleaned thoroughly removing all traces of old rubber and adhesive right down to the bright metal surface. Do not use oil based cleaning materials, such as paraffin as this will be detrimental to the use of the new adhesive applied. For the strongest adhesive to metal, Primer should be used. This must be stirred thoroughly prior to the application of a medium brush coat to prepared metal surfaces. Allow the primer to dry for at least one hour before applying the adhesive. Prepare the rubber tyre by wiping thoroughly with a clean rag and lightly roughen the inside with emery paper. Apply an even film of the mixed adhesive to both surfaces by brush, roller or serrated trowel. Allow these to dry for 10-20 minutes or until they can be touched by the knuckles Without any adhesive being transferred. Joining the Surfaces. As the tyre has to be stretched onto the rim of the wheel, care must be taken to ensure that the tyre lies central on the wheel rim. As the adhesive is a contact' type, it is advisable to place spacers between the tyre and the wheel at 3"- 4" intervals until the centralisation mentioned above has been achieved. The spacers can then be removed allowing the adhesive surfaces to come together. As much pressure as possible should be applied to the tyre to ensure a good bonding - paying special attention to the edges. The wheels should be allowed to stand for 1-2 hours before use. Finally, true up the rubber and put a slight crown on the face. This is done by revolving the wheel, preferably on the machine, and holding against it a wooden block covered with emery cloth. Check the wheel for balance before use. An alternative method to the above is to apply the adhesive to one surface only and bond immediately. This will give a much lower initial bond strength than the previous method. Maximum bond strength using this method will take approximately 5-7 days to develop. F'. U 1
